This conflict resolution section is designed to deal with intractable issues between Balfour Beatty Construction (CM) and their Sub-contractors. It is a process that involves diagnosis, mediating, and follow-up. It can also prevent problems from escalating to the point of project delay and over-budgeting. In most conflicts, neither party is right or wrong; instead, different perceptions collide to create disagreement. Conflict is natural and it's up to all parties involved to respond to conflict situations quickly and professionally. Conflict can be very positive; if you deal with it openly, you can strengthen your work unit by correcting problems. Conflicting views can give a chance to learn more about the project at hand, explore views of others, and develop productive relationships. Clear and open communication is the cornerstone of successful conflict resolution.

There are two main factors that are sources for conflict:

Interpersonal relations

• Personal quarrels

• Communicating troubles

• Changing conditions

• Differing site conditions

• Weather changes

• Economic changes

• Owner’s need for changes
